Growing up I LOVED to draw. It started with tracing Disney characters and grew into shaded pencil sketches and then onto acrylic paintings. My notebooks were full of doodles and my paint trays were never clean.
Because of my past love for drawing, I have accepted a handful of technical and digital illustration projects.
While working as a graphic designer for a small Southern Ontario agency, I had the opportunity to work on many interesting projects. Two of the most memorable include, creating the identity for a wine, art and food festival, and designing the packaging for a pea farmers product to be sold in grocery stores.
Tasked with creating the brand identity and marketing collateral for a 24hr diner in Kingston, ON was a lot of fun. This "biker" inspired diner / bar serves all day breakfast and a mean burger. A new restaurant named after the owner, the logo needed to be something fun, retro and inviting.
Design is in the details
From wedding invitations to wayfinding maps, I've done it all!
A Picture is worth a thousand words
Not only do I have a design background, I also studied photography. Though I don't shoot commercially anymore, I still have fun taking pictures of friends, family and travels.
For the love of logos
My true passion is working with businesses to create brands that speak to who they are and attract their ideal audience.
Creating a brand goes far beyond the logo, but having one you feel proud to show off is a strong starting point to growing your successful business.
When I was studying Graphic Design (over 10 years ago), I worked part-time for a company called "Pictographics" in Sault Ste. Marie. One of the client projects I worked on was for the Sault Downtown Association.
They wanted something that looked like a cartoon / sketch, and that was fun and welcoming. The logo that is currently in place on street signs was designed by me!
(It is in need of a long overdue update. *Facepalm* So many things I would change about it now that I "know better.")
